Green Light- Eva

Ever since I started this lifestyle I've seen nothing but benefits says this eco-sista

How long have you been eco-friendly? I have been eating plant based for about a year now.

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? I was already on a weight loss journey when I began to read different articles and watch a lot of different documentaries on the affects of the factory farm industry on climate change. So that led me to other documentaries like Food, Inc., Cowspiracy, Fork Over Knives, and Food Matters. After watching that I felt as though I would be insane to keep eating meat. I became vegetarian and ate mostly vegan with fish and cheese about 1 or 2 month (if that) and I lost even more weight without having to really workout.

What do you like about it? Ever since I started this lifestyle I've seen nothing but benefits. My skin has been clearing, I lost a significant amount of weight, and my life has done nothing but elevate.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? I didn't really face any challenges. It's just a little hard to go to family occasions because they don't eat the same way I do. Sometimes, I have to bring my own meals which I don't mind because I use it as an opportunity to expose my family to delicious vegan dishes.

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? Just take it one meal at a time. Try adding more meatless meals to your weekly meal plan. Instead of having something unhealthy or heavy for breakfast try a smoothie or fresh cold pressed juice. Try having a salad or other vegan meal for lunch. Do your research, figure out what will work best for you and your families needs. There are plenty of forums and other sites on google that will teach you so much. Also watching those documentaries I mentioned earlier.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? I have felt that. All I try to remember is that I am trying my best. Everyone is not on the same path that I am on right now and I shouldn't pass judgment on others for their choices. All I can do is offer my opinion when needed and help those who want to be helped.

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? I have been natural since 2013. I have big chopped twice. My most recent one was in July of  2015. I have to say its been a love/hate relationship with my hair. LOL! Patience and just testing products to see what works best for my hair type. My favorite products so far are Mielle Organics, EDEN Bodyworks, and also my stylist's (Christian Javaun) products are amazing. The products are all natural and cruelty free.

Is there anything you like to add? You can find me on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Pintrest
