Winter is approaching and that also means dry skin season. I made my own body butter using mango butter. If you're looking for an alternative to shea butter, give mango butter a try.
INGREDIENTS:
-Mango Butter: An excellent moisturizer. The butter is made from the seed of the mango
-Coconut Oil: Fatty oil made from coconuts
-Glycerin: A clear colorless liquid syrup that is a very rich humectant (retains moisture)
-Jojoba Oil: Technically not an oil but liquid plant also a humectant that is great for skin and hair. Very effective for dry skin.
-Vitamin E Oil: Very potent antioxidant that protects the skin.
-Lavender Oil: Essential oil taken from lavender flower and smells amazing.
What You Will Need:
-Electric Mixer
-Spatula
-Bowl
-Spoon
In bowl add a cup of the mango butter. Next bring a pot of water to boil and place the bowl on top so that it slowly melts the mango butter; add a tablespoon of each oil; chill in the freezer for 5-10 minutes; once cool whip with mixer until you get a creamy cake like batter (don't eat it) texture; transfer to airtight container and store in a cool place.
My skin was also well moisturized and wasn't too greasy. I will definitely be buying more of mango butter and playing around with different ingredients. As far as this brand so far I like it. This was my first time trying this so I can't really compare it to other brands. I purchased this on Amazon during the summer and I finally got around to making my concoctions. I will be trying other brands to see what the difference is, what works, and what doesn't.
I also tried it on my hair and...
I liked the results. I'm a sucker for multi-functional products.
My curls were:
-soft
-well moisturized
-and poppin'
