Vegan Bruh- Rashodd

Don't over analyze everything says the vegan bruh

How long have you been a vegan? I have been a vegan for 6 years now.

Was transition easy? The transition for me was relatively easy, I stopped eating beef and pork probably 10 years prior so when I decided not to eat meat at all, I went vegetarian for about 3 months while slowly phasing out dairy products.

Any tips/advice for someone interested in being a vegan? I would say take it one step at a time. Find vegan versions of the foods you already like to eat and develop your palate. It might take a minute to adjust to alternative options.

What's your favorite vegan recipe? I could eat potatoes almost everyday so I would say Cumin Cayenne Mashed Potatoes With Caramelized Onions by Chef Bryant Terry at the moment.

Black male vegans/vegetarians are rare but seems to be growing in popularity. Why do you think that is? I think the availability and access to information on these topics has increased. I also think people are looking for more spiritual and simpler ways of living. Connecting more with ancient ways and approaches to life.

Vegans are sometimes known for being extreme. What's the one thing you want people to know about vegans? If you are referring to veganism in general as being extreme, I believe it actually is one of the most natural processes we have in order to not only sustain but evolve life on the planet. The amounts of animals, water, etc wasted or destroyed in that industry seems to be more extreme but... As far as individuals go, some vegans are extreme and some are not. There are different roles played by different characters but the end goal is compassion.

Has it had an impact in other areas of your life? Of course health wise, but other than that some people just don't get it. I had to learn how to ignore other people's dietary opinions.

Is there anything you like to add? Don't over analyze everything you put into your mouth. Recently, I came across a video of Chef Bryant Terry giving a lecture and he said something interesting by poet Saul Williams. It was something to thee extent of "there is a fine line between being a vegan and an a$$hole", I've had a few vegetarian dishes throughout my 6 year stint, it's really a balancing act.
