Green Light- Johanna

An eco-sista who says she enjoys meeting the real me

How long have you been eco-friendly? Since May 3, 2013

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? On January 14, 2013 my husband and I received the best and worse news of our lives in the span of a 2 minute conversation. "You're pregnant Mrs. Ramos and I'm sorry but you're having a miscarriage." At the time I was 36 years old and had never heard the words you're pregnant nor had I seen that cute plus sign on a test that I've dreamed about. Following that call it was a dramatic day of calling 911, ambulances, and emergency rooms that ended with me being sent home with instructions to keep my legs elevated so that our baby could "pass"

What do you like about it? The thing I have enjoyed most is meeting the real me. You are awakened and I'm still in awe of living vs the "existence" I was in before.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? Because my lifestyle change was wrapped in a tragedy my biggest obstacle was the emotional detoxing. I was in a very dark place and wasn't even sure I deserved to live a better life. Good allowed the journey of the food I ate to heal my heart as well as my body.

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? Know that you are worth it. You were designed for greatness! When God created you he said "very good" not very sick, very broke, very disgusted, very unloved. YOU are worth the changes you desire.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? Of course! Three things... First this is when your squad means the world! Be sure to surround yourself with people that remind you of your greatness and your "why" when you forget it. Second forgive yourself and try again as many time as it takes. Third get a coach to keep you motivated, encouraged, and pushed towards continuous learning on your journey.

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? Ha! I love it. I've been natural on the outside for 12 years, but the last 3 years of becoming natural internally has made all the difference.

Is there anything you like to add? I love the community we are building together!

  2. You are walking in your true calling Johanna! The process has not been easy and it has not been what you planned are expected but God simply comforts us in those times with Proverbs 19:21. It reads "many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails".You my beautiful eco-sista are right where God intended for you to be for such a time as this. Keep allowing your light to shine and continue to be THE REAL YOU because the proof is here... that all of it, all that you have gone through is working for your good. Then God turns around and bless the lives of so many others.
