Green Light- DeChantell

This eco-sista says it was always in me

How long have you been eco-friendly? I've been more aware of how my actions affect the environment for about 4 years now.

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? It was always in me, I would say friends and family pushed me by being supportive with my complaining and just told me to do it. LOL.

What do you like about it? I like that I'm always learning something new about myself during the process. I feel like the environment is always challenging me to do more. It's the universe speaking to you. Very beautiful process.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? Absolutely, I face challenges! I think the biggest challenge is how much do I share. Not everyone is open to the lifestyle and it can have a negative connotation attached (crazy) and people will be afraid of your lifestyle. When I share I speak to impact, change, and inspire. That helps me get over it.

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? Yes! Do your research and be around people who are supportive during the transition.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? Noooo... You shouldn't feel like a hypocrite. There's complexity in everything and that's really what got us here. I always encourage the "Journey". That word is important to me because it simplifies my lifestyle and allows me to go at my own pace.

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? Aww, Thank You!! I've been natural for over 10 years, protective styled for a long time before I wore my hair out (not about that doing my own hair life). Let me tell you... my hair is in charge of me and I just go along for the ride. It does its own thing and I'm okay with that.

Is there anything you like to add? Yes, I have a clean eating guide for free on my website Living Well With DeChantell. You can also follow me on Instagram
