Green Light- Shannaire

An eco-sista who likes spreading awareness to people

How long have you been eco-friendly? I have been eco-friendly since 2015

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? I started for health reasons and once I started learning and being honest with myself I came to the conclusion that it's the ethical and humane thing to do. We have to live on earth. Earth is our home so why not take care of your home. The same thing with your body. Your body is your vessel that you are living in. Take care of your body.

What do you like about it? I like that I'm doing my part. Spreading awareness to people. It allows me to tap into my passion of helping people.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? Yeah, I had my share of challenges and still do but I am becoming VICTORIOUS. Like when I decided to become vegan, it's like what do I eat now. I'm still mastering that and being creative with an new way to eat. Or remembering to not throw items out the window and assist with the littering. Things of that nature.

The biggest obstacle was reconditioning my mind with positive thoughts. Being eco-friendly is not just about the earth it's about us too, the people. The same way you can pollute the earth, you can pollute the mind.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? Sometimes I do, but I shake that off FAST! "Going Green" or "Veganism" are just titles and that's what I remind myself. I am doing my part. I am doing something. Like you said it's better than nothing at all. I always remind people that even when you feel you mess up at least you are trying, baby steps are better than no steps at all. We gotta stop being so hard on ourselves. Relax you know.

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? Awwww… Thanks! August will make 4 years that I have been natural. I'm still learning my hair as well as all these products too. I recently decided no more commercial shampoos. I keep a spray bottle with water and olive oil to keep my hair moisturize. Plus I feel it gives my hair a full healthy and bouncy look compared to coconut oil.

Sometimes I will do a twist out here and there. Keeping it fly is knowing what your hair needs. Our hair needs plenty of water and fruits and vegetables. That's how I keep it fly.

Is there anything you like to add? Yes, please check out my blog In Her Therapy where I share my story on why I chose a vegan lifestyle while shedding light on things that people are in the dark about when it comes to their life. And your health is part of your life.
