Green Light- Nefertiti

An eco-sista who became aware of her impact while traveling

How long have you been eco-friendly? I have been eco-friendly since my younger years of high school.

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? I became aware of my impact on the earth from traveling. The pollution in different countries was mind blowing… I couldn't believe the amount of trash and poison that has and still is destroying the oceans & land.

What do you like about it? I love that I'm helping the earth…I plan to live on the planet for at least 70 more years…If only people just reduce, reuse, and recycle life would be easier.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? I find it quite difficult to convince others to be eco-friendly. Many don't care and they don't want to understand what they are doing to the earth. I find greedy corporations to be the root of the cause. They want to make money and they don't care about what chemicals or products harm the earth.

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? Do your research! PETA is a good start. Also check out:
Cruelty Free International

You can find ways to form little communities, volunteer cleaning parks/beaches, try your best to inform others. Try to set up a rally at school. Get people aware of the problem.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? I do feel that way when I am broke. It's also a challenge trying to find all natural products, but you can find them. There are blogs and other websites that list all the products out there that are vegan/cruelty-free/all natural! It does get pricey but in the end it's worth it.

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? I have been natural for 4 years this coming November! I use Kinky Curly and Giovanni leave-in conditioners.

Is there anything you like to add? You can find me on YouTube here and here, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, Tumbler, and Blogger
