"Clueless" How To- Get Your Personal Ish Off The Net

Like most people, I enjoy being online but I have a love/hate relationship with it. Since I don't have cable it's a way to keep me entertained, learn, and connect with like minds. One day, I was on a clueless adventure when I decided to do a search on myself. This was around the time of the Rachel Dolezal story. I was stuck on that hashtag all day via Twitter.

At first it was an interesting story that turned into hilarious laugh out loud memes and tweets but then I stopped laughing. Why? Once again women who look like me are being erased. It was just… You know... I mean… You see that, I can't even find the words to explain it.

Anyways, I typed in my name and there was no match. Whew! I can rest peacefully. Ha! Not so fast. I noticed an advertisement to the right of the page with a link to click if I wanted "more info" on what I just searched for. I ignored it and went about my web surfing duties.

I was in denial like there's no way my personal info can be on the net. So, I went back and typed the website name which led me to a page where I had to enter basic information. I then hit the search button and was sure nothing would come up like my first search. Let me tell you I sat there with my mouth on the floor. I was 38 hot.

In addition to knowing my location, this site also had a list of people who were "related" to me. Some who were familiar to me, others I've never met a day in my life. Per the site there was "more" to see. However, I had to create an account or pay a small fee to do so. I passed on the offer and just went on a search binge.

I was jumping from one site to another taking screen shots, copying, and pasting. All while cursing up a storm. This is a total violation of privacy and a stalkers dream come true. I searched the sites privacy policy and started the process of (hopefully) getting my information removed.

Below are some of the top people search companies and steps that I took to hopefully get my ish off the net

Instant Checkmate
People Smart

-Find the privacy policy on the site
-Email the company and in the subject line type Opt-Out
-Make sure to attach a screenshot of the page you want removed
-In the body of your message kindly say…

Clueless Tip: When contacting the company requesting to remove your info and they reply back by asking you to create an account- DON'T do it. I had one that tried that ish with me and in the "nicest" way possible I replied LISTENYou betta

*I found that a lot of these people search sites can be very misleading. I know this won't stop from having my info back online again but it's a step in the right direction. I went back a few weeks later and as of this post my info is not…..

I give up these sites are disrespectful
