Clueless Recipes- Boulett (Haitian Meatballs)
I'm back with another Haitian recipe that I remember from my childhood. This was full of flavor and totally satisfying. My version is a little different from how my mom made it, but I'm proud of my efforts to pay homage to my mom's cooking from her native Haiti.
INGREDIENTS:
-Ground Turkey
-Whole Wheat Flour
-Onions
-Seasoned Salt
-Garlic Powder
-Homemade Basil Pesto (minus the arugula)
-Coconut Oil
Add turkey in a bowl and mix in onions, seasoned salt, pesto, and garlic powder; form into golf ball size; roll into flour shaking off excess; deep fry in coconut oil.
This can be served with rice and beans or rice with a bean sauce. You know I had to be dramatic. I made basmati rice with garbanzo beans sauce. For the bean sauce…
-2 cans garbanzo beans
-Vegetable Bouillon
-Garlic cloves
-Seasoned Salt
-Parsley
Add one can of the beans in a blender along with other listed ingredients and blend. If you need to add more liquid use it from the other can of beans. While the beans are blending; heat olive oil on medium heat and add second can of beans to the pot; transfer blended beans from blender to the pot; stir and let cook for about 5 minutes. Serve with rice.
