Green Light- Gina

An eco-sista who likes the results of being more eco-conscious

How long have you been eco-friendly? I have been eco-friendly (or eco-conscious) for 8 years.

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? Like many women of color, I returned to natural (natural hair) which led me to being more conscious of my other beauty and health choices.

What do you like about it? I find it simpler choosing products because the choices are a lot smaller I also like the results being more eco-conscious has given my hair, skin, and health.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? Finding make-up products for women of color is challenging. Finding a foundation is almost impossible as well as finding really pigmented lipsticks which I really struggle with.

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? Start small and look at the things you already have on hand. I'm a huge fan of making my own products. It's eco-friendly and pocket friendly.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? No, I don't think it's that complex to be sustainable and make greener choices. Every little helps.

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? I've been natural for 8 years. I keep my hair looking nice by protective styling and only using natural products.
