Green Light- Victoria

A newly eco-sista who started out reading food labels

How long have you been eco-friendly? I actually have not been eco-friendly for a long time. I'm just now starting to purchase more items that are eco-friendly.

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? For me, it actually started out with my diet. I had a very poor way of eating and started to really analyze the labels on what I would eat. In doing so, I realized that there's A LOT of things in food that I shouldn't be putting into my body. Beginning to read labels got me into the habit of just being curious and reading what was in anything I was consuming or putting on my body. That's mainly how I chose to be more cautious about what I purchase and made me start to move towards eco-friendly products.

What do you like about it? I like that I know there's nothing bad in the products and I don't have to guess if what I'm putting into or on my body is good for me in the long run.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)?  The biggest challenge at this point in time is to let go of products that I do love, but aren't eco-friendly.

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? READ LABELS! I promise you don't know even half of what's in many of your products and seeing what you're putting into your body makes a huge difference in if you'll purchase the item again.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? I don't believe I'm far enough into this green movement to feel that way towards it.

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? I've been natural since December 4th, 2014 and I remember the night because I was going to this big party. Right before I told my girls who were getting ready… "I'm over this, get the scissors." I've been natural for over five months now and I can honestly say everyday is a new challenge with natural hair. I can honestly say that I keep it "fly" by deep conditioning and really making sure I listen to what it says. If it doesn't like a product I use, I don't try again and try to find something more suitable for my hair. It's honestly like watching a child grow, so everyday is a new adventure and I'm just happy to have healthy hair.

Is there anything you like to add? Love your blog and love that you highlight women making a difference by being eco-friendly! <3
