Green Light-Robin & Andrea

Eco-sista's who have been practicing eco-friendly habits since childhood

How long have you been eco-friendly? We both grew up in new developing wine regions- Marlborough, New Zealand and Monterey, California. Both these places are incredibly progressive and forward thinking in terms of taking care of the environment, it was just the way things were/are done. "Eco-friendly" are habits we have been practicing since our childhood.

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? It's a practice that is about taking care of the environment and our communities we live in and that's something we firmly believe in and will support.

What do you like about it? Specific to farming, we get a higher quality grape that results in higher quality wines. It's a competitive advantage!

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? A big challenge is helping build awareness around sustainability and being able to communicate what it means, so people not so familiar can feel comfortable and informed.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? Yes! It's definitely not easy if there isn't infrastructure set up around you to make a good "green choice". Wee just try and do the best we can, that's the first step. All those small changes we make, do add up as a community, and do make a difference.

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? We've always rocked our natural hair… but it hasn't always looked FLY- LOL! Through the years we've experimented with different products and Moroccan Oil seems to be our greatest friend.

Is there anything you like to add? The McBride Sisters are the first African-American women to produce and start their own wine business. You can check them out on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
