Green Light- Fifi

An eco-sista who love doing things that are healthy for her body

How long have you been eco-friendly? I'm not sure I've kept a record of how long I've been eco-friendly. It may sound a bit cheesy, but I really remember back in elementary school learning about recycling and caring more for the earth. As I've grown to be an adult, I'm always looking for new ways to incorporate being eco-friendly into my lifestyle.

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? Being eco-friendly not only helps keep the earth in a more healthy state, it helps me as an individual stay in a more healthy state. Although it seems counterintuitive at first, being eco-friendly is a time and money saver ultimately.

What do you like about it? It makes me feel really good to be a steward of the earth and it's resources. I love doing things that are healthy for my body. I love being creative in the process so that it doesn't feel so restrictive.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? One of the biggest challenges I face is being forgetful. An example would be going to the grocery store and forgetting my reusable bags. I hate that! I hate buying ones when I forget them as well. Other times there are products like maybe a cleaning product or even a deodorant that is eco-friendly that doesn't work as powerfully as the more traditional brand. In some cases I make exceptions, and other cases I do a little more research and figure out a solution that works for me.

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? My advice would be to take it one day at a time. You don't need to go in your pantry, cabinets, and shelves throwing away everything. Small changes can make a big difference. You can make a choice to use eco-friendly cleaning supplies one month and then the next month you can start going through your shampoos or nail polishes. Whenever it becomes challenging, just keep in mind that when you don't go eco-friendly, your health at risk.

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? I've been natural pretty much all my life, but it's only been since 2011 that I had any relevant information on how to improve the health of my hair and actually learn how to style it myself. I've had some setbacks and I've had some great triumphs over the years. It's really helped me to love my beauty as a whole and accept my natural features even aside from my hair.

Is there anything you like to add? I would encourage anyone reading this to embrace a natural lifestyle because it is how we were meant to be, but at the same time don't be hard on yourself if you can't embrace everything at once. This is your journey and you have to do what works for you!
