Green Light- India

An eco-sista who says find what works for you and don't beat yourself up about it

How long have you been eco-friendly? I started caring more about all things natural a little over two years ago! April 2012 I decided to go natural with my hair and felt that quite obviously I could be more natural in other areas too!

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? After going natural with my hair I figured that I should put just as much care into my body as I had been with my hair. I saw the great benefits of using only natural products on my hair and skin and committed to having a healthier diet. I also started to pay more attention to make sure that we were recycling.

What do you like about it? Going natural with my hair was the best decision I have ever made! It makes me feel good about myself inside and out. It has given me confidence in myself to know that I can use natural products (and not something like modern medicine or other products) to make my hair and body healthy.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? I think in the beginning it was a challenge to figure my hair out and what products to use. It's all about trail and error. At this point in my journey, the challenge I face is taming the beast! It has grown a lot and gotten thicker so I have to learn how to stop it from having tantrums. Other challenges overall would be just to always want to educate myself to learn how to be more eco-friendly to make sure that I am doing things right.

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? Do your own research and never give up on it!

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? I do feel like I am not doing things the "right" way at times. I try to educate myself and just do the best that I can. I am not perfect at all to feel bad if I am contradicting what I believe in like eating something that is not a clean food, or forgetting to recycle the trash. I think you just have to find out what works for you, and don't beat yourself up about it!

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? I have been natural for over two years (April 2012)…and as far as keeping it fly… you are too kind! I really just embrace my wild and crazy hair and let it do what it do!

Is there anything you like to add? Be blessed and beautiful! I'm on Instagram- YouTube- Facebook- Blog
