Green Light- Mia

It's all up to you and your mindset says this eco-sista

How long have you been eco-friendly? I went vegetarian December 2012.

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? I saw a picture of my face and it looked very odd and had signs of diabetes which runs in my family so I freaked out and decided to do something new to change my diet. I was also starting an intellectual and spiritual growth (journey) at the time so the timing was right for me to make some drastic changes.

What do you like about it? I feel better. I look better. There's no guilt about killing and eating another being who once had a spirit and beating heart. It's a good way to live and if you believe in Karma it helps to deplete the (negative) amount of it we accumulate on a daily.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? I went vegetarian while living in South Korea which was a challenge in itself. While all the vegetables they have are non-GMO and are REAL, they cost way too much for the limited amounts and varieties available. Also, going out to eat with someone and even alone can be very difficult in the land of beef and chicken. I've never seen people eat more fried chicken than in Korea. LOL!

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? It's all up to you and your mindset. It's a commitment to a lifestyle and not the ideal of it. EVERYTHING has to change and everything will change because of it. Something as simple as keeping emergency snacks with you in case you get hungry and can't find a place with real food near by, which in this society today, that's a norm. It takes dedication and commitment.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? Nobody's perfect in their actions. Every living being has flaws. It's a matter of how disciplined you are and how much you DON'T preach to people who don't believe in what you do. Some people may go pescatarian and if that works for them then so be it. I wasn't put here to monitor anyone's life other than my own. People ask me what I do, think, eat, etc. and I share that, if I feel so inclined but that doesn't mean I'm giving them the blueprint to how they should lead their life. That responsibility is not mine, although sometimes people will treat you word as such. My green journey is not the same as the next person's green journey, and vice versa. :)

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? I went natural this last time December 2011. So it's been about 3 years. Choosing to wear your hair in it's natural state and having it behave the way you want takes mad work. Of course I didn't know this before I got into it but now 3 years into the game I know. Weekly washes, deep conditioning, care routines throughout the week, it takes work! Between my hair and skin regimens you'd think I'd never sleep lol. It requires a lot of attention and effort. But, thank you!!!

Is there anything you like to add? You can find me on YouTube. I haven't made the announcement just yet but I'm planning to launch a brand new channel to represent a new phase and chapter in my life, now that I'm post expat living for the moment. So if people visit/subscribe to the MiaMor channel they'll get the announcement once it's made. If people want to contact me they can email mia2anita@gmail.com
