Green Light- Bei

An eco-sista who says start by changing one thing and gradually build on it

How long have you been eco-friendly? Since 2010 I think.

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? I was losing my hair due to relaxers and decided enough was enough. This creamy crack just didn't like me, so I went through the transitions stage. With that I started using chemical free products in my hair and on my skin. I was already going to the gym prior to all this but was smoking which made no sense. I quit and have been smoke-free coming on four years now.

In 2013 I decided to change my diet and eat more natural/organic foods to enhance this chemical free lifestyle and also change the products I use around the home.

What do you like about it? I love knowing that I'm making a difference to my health and also being able to encourage others to do the same as well as trying to help the environment.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? I don't think I faced many challenges… well at the beginning when I was transitioning, I thought it was hard work maintaining my tresses and it took a while to master and know my hair.

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? Do some research into the  ingredients that are in your products in and around the home. Start by changing one thing and gradually build on it.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? A lot of people think that going green is a waste of money and I can totally understand to some degree. In the beginning, I kept going back and forth when buying products because I knew they worked and they were affordable. When it comes to organic and chemically free products they are more expensive from your standard products. But you really can't put a price on your health. Some people are just happy and find it easier even knowing what it's doing so they carry on polluting themselves and the environment. You can't change everybody.

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? LOL, Since 2010. With a lot of hard work and patience.

Is there anything you like to add? Yes!! Thanks CluelessCurl for featuring me on your blog.
