Green Light- Sasha

An eco-sista who loves the simplicity of being eco-friendly

How long have you been eco-friendly? I grew up in an eco-friendly and health cognizant household. So it's always been a part of my everyday life.

Over the passed 5-6 years, I've been slowly making my way into being a bit more strict. It's still a process for me and I would like to consider myself as someone that is still in transition.

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? As mentioned before, growing up to a degree in an eco-friendly home helped me. It also fits well with my creative and budget worthy nature. I have also been very conscious of what I eat.

Making and creating has always been near and dear to my heart. So, I would stubble across many things I could make myself that was also eco-friendly. So it was a win-win.

What do you like about it? I love that it's so simplistic. Complicated things frustrate me lol. Being eco-friendly is not only easy but it helps all involved. The environment as well as the people.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? I still face challenges. Every aspect of my life isn't eco-friendly so it's something I'm constantly working on. Educating myself also introduces me to other alternatives I wouldn't have ordinarily known about.

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? Being environmental can be challenging for many. My best advice would be to take one thing that will put you in the right direction to be green and continue doing it for a week. Then add another thing. It is also important to self educate. Learn why you are taking the steps to being eco-friendly in the first place.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? I use to feel this way, but I realize I am not a machine and that it takes time to learn anything you would like to be better at. It does help that many things in our communities now promote eco-friendly lifestyles.

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? Thank you! I have been natural for about 13 years. Less is more. That is my motto. I really don't do much to my hair. Wash it, condition it, and wear it in protective styles for the most part.

Is there anything you like to add? Self educating is extremely important. If there is something you would like to learn don't be afraid to teach yourself. I'm doing this with being eco-friendly.

Natural High will also have some new projects so look out for those.
