Green Light- D'Arcy

An eco-sista who says take care of your body it's the only place you have to live

How long have you been eco-friendly? I have been eco-friendly for the past 2 years. While in college I cut fast food and soda out of my diet and started eating healthy.

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? I chose to be eco-friendly, when I started paying close attention to the ingredients in products and researching them. I made the decision to become healthy inside and out. That included looking at what I ate as well as what I used on my body.

What do you like about it? I like that I know exactly what I'm putting into my body. I make my own meals so I know what ingredients are in there and how they benefit my body. I also make my own hair and body products (Crazy4Coconut) which can be found on my website. My products have no chemicals, preservatives, or manmade fragrances everything is "au natural" which has shown a huge difference in my hair's journey.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? My biggest challenge was to stop unhealthy snacking and incorporate more water in my diet. I try to snack on fruit, nuts, vegetables, and drinking water throughout the day. Another challenge was finding the right hair products. I stopped using a lot of my staple products because I noticed down the long line of ingredients there were chemicals and preservatives listed.

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? My mantras for living eco-friendly are "Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live" and "If you can't eat it, don't put it on your skin" Eating right and making sure the ingredients in products are not artificial or harmful in any way is definitely the best way to start.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There's really no "right" way it's basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? I definitely do at times especially when it comes to snacking and fast food, but I try to remind myself that eating right is good for my body. Of course, I slip here and there, but I use the result (which is always negative) to stop me the next time around.

You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? I've been natural for four years, heat free for two and I'm enjoying the journey. After constantly searching for products that didn't do much for my hair I decided to create my own. I use my handmade Coconut oil and Body butters and for hold or wash and go's, I use ecostyler gel. My go to styles are twist outs and braidouts.

Is there anything you like to add? You can find me and my products on my Blog, Facebook, or Instagram.
