My Green Light Features

When I started this feature, I wanted to know what women who look like me were doing to live an eco-friendly lifestyle. I was looking for tips, advice, and to have some questions answered. At the time (2010), I was all over the net trying to find like minded eco-sista's. I wasn't very successful with finding what I was looking for. I did find one but she had stopped blogging by the time I found her.

So, I didn't let that discourage me. I figured why not reach out and take it from there. My first feature was Treece. I met her online a few years back. I messaged her and told her about my blog and what it would be about. She agreed and the rest as they say is history. I am proud to say that I'm at 80+ (as of this post) features. I hope to reach even more by the end of the year.

This feature means a lot to me because women who look like me are grossly misrepresented. What started as me wanting tips and advice, has become a mission. A mission to highlight this feature in the most positive way. Showing that we too care for the earth and making it a better place to live. We recycle, exercise, eat healthy, and so on.

I've reached out to so many of you and I want to say THANK YOU for wanting to be featured on my lil blog. From the bottom of my heart I truly appreciate each and every one of you for taking the time to answer my annoying questions. I've read all of your answers. How do you think I come up with your headlines? LOL!

There were some who I reached out to that felt that they weren't eco-friendly enough but told me not to cut them off just yet. They've been inspired to do better and will HOLLA BACK!!!. I'm sorry it really wasn't my intention ;). I've gotten some really positive feedback about using my blog to create awareness. Thanks for all the kind words. I'm working on doing bigger and better things with this blog.

Going green is a human thing and not just reserved for white people or those who are rich. I know some of us get picked on for taking that route. Yours truly has experienced some of that negativity. But I don't let it hinder me. This is a life long journey for me. It's not a fad or trend that I'm following.

I've seen some amazing results while on this journey. I just love how creative I've become. I'm not 100% green and I've had my frustrations. I take what I can and leave the rest. Thanks for joining me in this up and down journey of being eco-friendly.
