An eco-sista who says every little bit of sustainability helps
How long have you been eco-friendly? I have a sister 14 years younger than me and she is Miss Go Green! She is consistent about staying on family members about sustainability. I have picked up on a few tid-bits from her. Then I took a course on this topic and ways to incorporate it into my classroom (I'm a second grade teacher). So while it's something that I'm still learning about, I do my best to live as eco-friendly as I can for my busy lifestyle.
Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? This earth doesn't belong to us. We have to keep it going for those who will inhabit the space after us.
What do you like about it? It just feels good to know that every little bit of sustainable living helps. Turning off the water while brushing teeth. Flushing the toilet only once during each use. Using a few trash bags as possible (I'm a single woman, so I don't accumulate much trash anyway). These are just a few small things that we can all do. Seems insignificant, I know, but imagine if everyone recycled and upcycled more.
Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? Start small that's all we can do.
You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? I started growing my hair out in the summer of 2010 and cut if the following winter. I was devastated for at least 15 minutes. I cried in the bathroom because I looked like a boy. So, I called a homegirl on the phone to whine. She told me to suck it up, get my gel, twist my hair, and go to bed! So I got over that fairly quick. I still never loved my TWA stage because I was unaccustomed to seeing myself with such short hair, but it went by fast. Youtube and blogs have been my best friend! I try to keep my hands out of it but that's not always easy. I don't manipulate it much between wash days and I frequently twist and pin it up to help retain length.
