Re-Visting The Salon

I have not been to the salon since 2006. Since then, I've been doing my hair myself. Thanks to searching how to's..., I quickly learned how to braid and sew it in all by myself. Oh and who can forget the girl in the neighborhood who knew how to do some hair. Even though I was doing my hair myself it was not healthy.

After I took out my braids/weaves, I would re-do them again without any breaks in between. I would wash it but when it came to deep treatments and trims. I missed those steps and paid the price for it. My hair was very thin and fragile. Fast forward to 2008, I did another search looking to return to natural.

I surfed the web and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was in awe at all these blogs (I didn't even know what a blog was) dedicated to natural hair. I was so inspired that I literally took the plunge in the summer of 2009. I was jumping in and out of the pool that year. My hair is now thick and healthy.

Lately, I've been getting tired of doing my hair. I noticed more hair = more work. I love my hair but I'm tired of all these reps I have to take in between. I switched up my routine so I won't have to keep doing it all the time. For the summer, I'll be keeping it in small two strand twists.

I want to put that energy in food 😋. I've been thinking about going to the salon. However, every time I think of re-visiting it, I think of why I stopped going in the first place.

Customer Service- I always felt like sh!t after leaving the salon. I was always bouncing from stylist to stylist and I hated that. The experience was not always good.

Price- I would be quoted one price then get charged another because my hair was given a "special treatment". I could have sworn when I called that's what we talked about.

Time- I just love how I'd be given an appointment and 10 other people has the same appointment as me. You should have told me to bring a sleeping bag.

Oh well! I guess I won't be re-visiting one anytime soon.
