Green Light- Sana

An eco-sista who says if your looking to be eco-friendly Go for it!

How long have you been eco-friendly? About 6 months, I think.

Why did you choose to be eco-friendly? It started with my hair...After I started paying attention to what I put on it, I realized I wanted to do the same for what I put on/in my body, etc.

What do you like about it? I love knowing that In a way, i'm kinda helping the environment (and my body). I may not do much, but I love knowing that I'm making a -small- difference.

Did you face any challenges? If so, what was/is the biggest obstacle(s)? Staying eco-friendly. Sometimes it's hard because other people don't understand, and when they don't understand they'll say/do things that make me want to change, again. At first it really bugged me, but I realized that being eco-friendly is MY choice, not theirs, so I stopped letting it get to me so much.

Any tips/advice for someone looking to be more eco-friendly? Don't go cold turkey, just start small.
It can be hard, and going cold turkey would make it harder. I started small. First I changed the hair products I used and the food I ate..after I got used to that, I changed my makeup, and then body washes/lotion, and so on. It made it a little easier, and I got used to the change.

Going green can be complex. This discourages a lot of people. There’s really no “right” way it’s basically trying to do something than nothing at all. I sometimes feel like a green hypocrite. Do you feel that way sometimes? Occasionally. I'm the type of person that over-thinks EVERYTHING, so sometimes I start thinking things like"Maybe i'm doing something wrong", but there isn't really a way to change that. I think I'm always going to think that.
You know I gotta ask, How long have you been natural and how do you keep it so FLY? (My hair?) I've been natural for pretty much my whole life.. It can be hard/frustrating sometimes, but what isn't? I just try to use things, or make my own stuff, with ingredients I like, rather than things filled with harmful chemicals I can't even pronounce.

Is there anything you like to add? If you want to try being eco-friendly, Go for it! Don't worry about what people might say or think, and try not to think about how hard it might be. Just make the change and know that you did it for you. It'll be one of the best decisions you'll ever make.
