Processed Foods

Processed foods are foods that have been altered from their natural state. They tend to have a longer shelf life than fresh foods. It's a huge part in the food industry. Why? QUANTITY is more important than QUALITY. It's one of the reasons why I rarely go out to eat.

There was a time I was making poor choices when it came to eating. I didn't care I thought as long as I had something to eat I'm good. But, it was not looking good. The feeling after you've eaten your favorite artery clogger and it has you saying… I should have never eaten that. But, day after day you keep eating it because it just keeps calling your name.

I was looking like a stick with a beer belly. That ain't cute look! I slowly stopped eating out and cooked more healthier dishes at home. It was a bit of a challenge. I had to force myself to read the labels when grocery shopping and staying within my budget. Eating healthy cost more and it was frustrating to me. It got to the point where I stopped reading the labels and dump 'em in the cart. I know, it was out of frustration.

For some, processed foods is a convenience and I totally understand. Just throw it in the microwave breakfast, lunch, and dinner is served. I never really liked the taste of foods after it's been in the microwave, popcorn being the only exception LOL. One of my goals this year is to eliminate ALL processed foods.

I've prepared myself for some of the major side eyes coming my way.
